------------------------------------------------------------ -- Copyright Active Research Limited 2005-7 -- -- -- -- Release notes for the -- -- NDC-3 and NSW-1 firmware -- -- -- ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ -- Changes from v3.100 to v3.110 -- ------------------------------------------------------------ * Removes all known issues in handling illegal length NMEA 0183 sentences (> 85 characters long) - primarily from poor AIS devices that break the NMEA 0183 specification. This has been observed as the unit resetting (and losing USB connection). This is a highly recommended patch to remove all known issues with the NDC-3 and NSW-1 and should be used by all NDC-3 customers. * Added ability to recover from an invalid RS232/USB Baud rate value. If this issue is observed, used this version of ActiPatch via the RS232 connection (not USB) and power cycle the NDC-3 unit. This will allow ActiPatch to talk to the NDC-3 and update it's firmware. Once updated, the Baud rate issue will be fixed and normal operation will resume. ------------------------------------------------------------ -- Changes from v3.090 to v3.100 -- ------------------------------------------------------------ * In a high overload condition (120%+) and with 'Duplicate Deletion' turned off, or NMEA 0183 sentences that are of the 'Multi-part' ('cannot delete duplicates') type, the NDC-3 could become overwhelmed with the volume of data and reset itself to recover. This version fixes this issue and has been extensively tested to a 400% overload condition. The 'Encapsulated' NMEA 0183 changes in v3.090 created a bug for the NSW-1 operation, which stopped any NMEA data from coming out the NMEA Autoswitched output. This version restores the correct NSW-1 operation. ------------------------------------------------------------ -- Changes from v3.080 to v3.090 -- ------------------------------------------------------------ * Added new capability to pass 'encapsulated' NMEA 0183 data (that is any sentence beginning with a '!' character instead of the normal '$' character). This is important for AIS products that used this binary data encapsulation. ------------------------------------------------------------ -- Changes from v3.070 to v3.080 -- ------------------------------------------------------------ * Small change to allow operation with the new NDC Control Centre (v2.xx). Now able to configure the RS232 Baud rate, and select if 'ARL P-codes' and 'Duplicate deletion' are required. This version can be used with both NDC-2's (of v1.08 firmware and above) and NDC-3's (v3.08 and above). ------------------------------------------------------------ -- Changes from v3.041 to v3.070 -- ------------------------------------------------------------ * The 'Extra P-Code' change of v3.04 introduced a 'bug' into the diagnostic LED control - stopping it from flashing in response to data pass through the NDC. This 'bug' has now been removed. ------------------------------------------------------------ -- Changes from v3.04 to v3.041 -- ------------------------------------------------------------ * To help the NDC-3 cope under very high data rates, all sentences not on the "do not delete duplicates" list will have any 'old' data deleted when very high volumes of data are received. Added additional waypoint sentences to the "do not delete duplicates" list. As a result, no waypoint sentences will be deleted with v3.041 software and up. ------------------------------------------------------------ -- Changes from v3.03 to v3.04 -- ------------------------------------------------------------ * 'Extra P-Code' configuration settings now defaults to off. No status P-Codes will be transmitted from any NDC-3 and NSW-1 hardware updated to v3.04. All NDC-3 and NSW-1 configuration settings (including the 'Extra P-Code' setting) will be configurable via the NDC / NSW Control Centre PC software.
