About this kit
Building an NMEA 2000 network from scratch requires more than just connecting devices — you need to power the network, terminate both ends correctly, branch off to each device, and give yourself enough cable to reach between components. Get any of those elements wrong, and the network won’t perform reliably.
Kit 1a takes the guesswork out of getting started. It contains every component needed for a basic two-device Micro NMEA 2000 network, pre-selected to work together. The 2-metre backbone cable suits compact installations where equipment is mounted close together.
All connectors use metal bodies and nickel-plated brass contact pins, chosen for their superior resistance to corrosion, vibration, and physical wear in marine environments. Unlike plastic-threaded connectors, which can crack, cross-thread, or become brittle over time, these components are built to handle years of real-world use without needing attention.
This kit is ideal for:
(Part number)
| Qty | Part number | Component | Role in the network |
| 1 | A2K-MPT-2 | Micro Power T-Piece | Connects the network to its 12V power supply |
| 2 | A2K-TER-M | NMEA 2000 Micro Terminator (male) | Terminates each end of the backbone to prevent signal reflections |
| 2 | A2K-T-MFF | Micro T-Piece | Drop-connection points to attach NMEA 2000 devices to the backbone |
| 1 | A2K-TDC-2M | Lite Cable Assembly – 2 metre | Backbone cable to extend the distance between any two network pieces |
