Windows 7 Support

Following the release of Windows 10, most manufacturers and developers have started to use a new mandatory version of digital signing certificate to sign their software and USB Drivers.  This new digital signing certificate is not natively supported by Windows 7 and results in Windows preventing the installed USB Driver from operating.  As this can affect the Actisense USB Driver we wanted to pass on this simple solution.

A ‘hot fix’ update was released by Microsoft in 2015 to add Windows 7 support for these new certificates and solve this issue.  If your PC is up to date it will already have this ‘hot fix’ and your USB drivers will be operating correctly.  Therefore no further action is required.

If you do not allow automatic Windows updates, please go to your ‘Windows Update’ console (search “windows update” in your ‘Start’ menu) and manually install Windows updates.  If it has been a while since you last updated Windows there may be too many updates for Windows to be able to install in one go, therefore you will need to carry out this process in (date order) stages.  Please contact Microsoft for instructions on how to do this.

Alternatively, simply install the specific update needed, which is “KB 3033929“.

To reiterate, this issue only effects USB drivers on Windows 7.
Windows 8 and 10 natively support the new digital signing certificates.
Windows XP (and earlier) will allow unsigned USB drivers to operate without issues, therefore this is not relevant to XP users.
