Does NMEA 2000 need power?

← Back

Every NMEA 2000 network must be correctly powered and terminated with a 12V supply, and 2 x 120-ohm terminators, one placed at each end of the backbone. Most low power NMEA 2000 devices will take their power from the NMEA 2000 network. Certain devices require external power and do not draw from the NMEA 2000 network due to their current pull being too high. Power insertion must also be considered when powering the network. Placement of power can be very important, especially in networks with a lot of devices on the backbone.
