DST-2 Digital depth, speed & temperature transducer interface

Breathe new digital life into transducers, with digital signal processing technology.

The DST-2 digitises depth, speed and temperature transducer signals into NMEA 0183 data to deliver best-in-class seabed tracking.

Where To Buy

It works with NMEA 0183 compatible devices, such as chart plotters, radars or an on-board PC. In addition, it can be calibrated via a PC to match various sensors and installations.

Using a DST with an existing depth transducer can be much more cost-effective than having to lift the boat out of the water to change the transducer skin fitting. Not only does this save money, but it also saves you time.

Digitising data is becoming more popular, and transducers are no exception to this. Analogue transducers are great, they work well, don’t usually fail and are solid.

However, the depth, speed and temp readings from them are often not available on an NMEA 0183 or NMEA 2000 display.

The DST-2 will take signals from the transducer, and convert them into NMEA 0183 sentences for the relevant reading. (To get this data onto NMEA 2000, an NGX-1 is also required to convert 0183 to 2000).

The alternative way of getting NMEA 2000 data from a transducer is to replace the existing analogue one with a very expensive digital or ‘smart’ transducer, with NMEA 2000 conversion and output inherent to the product. However, to replace the transducer, it requires pulling the boat out of the water, removing and fitting a new transducer and then sealing it off depending on the type being used.

As a cost effective alternative, a DST-2 connected to an NMEA 0183 display, or a DST-2 and NGX-1 combination is much better value than fitting a new NMEA 2000 transducer.
