NMEA 2000 PC Gateway NGT-1
Software Compatibility list
The Actisense NGT-1 is an NMEA 2000 certified Gateway device, enabling software applications to both read and send NMEA 2000 messages in a protected environment. The electrical isolation and firewall capabilities of the NGT-1 place it in a unique position as a computer Interface to NMEA 2000.

Actisense is committed to supporting software developers to create a wide range of NMEA 2000 capable applications for the PC, Mac & Linux. The initial list includes chart-plotters, vessel monitoring, data logging and Ethernet server applications that can display NMEA 2000 data, and/or share their own NMEA 2000 data with other devices on the network.

Below is the current list of software that is either already compatible with, or in the process of being made compatible with the Actisense NGT-1. The table indicates the development progress state of each software application to help clarify the current compatibility position (the stage key is detailed below the table).

Please contact Actisense if you are a software developer and would like a low-cost way to incorporate NMEA 2000 and the NGT-1 into your software package.

Progress stages:
[1] Collaboration between Actisense and the software developer has been agreed
[2] Software developer has issued a beta release version that supports the Actisense NGT-1
[3] Beta release version has been tested by Actisense and confirmed as working (in beta form)

[4] Software developer has issued full release version that supports the Actisense NGT-1
[5] Full release version has been tested by Actisense and confirmed as working
[6] Actisense tests have determined the software is safe for use¹ on the NMEA 2000 network

[7] Actisense TPG tests complete and application for NMEA 2000 certification has been submitted
[8] NMEA 2000 Approved for use with the Actisense NGT-1 certificate issued by the NMEA

¹ Once the Actisense NGT-1 has been 'Third Party Gateway' (TPG) certified (the specification of which is currently being finalised by the NMEA), Actisense will be able to perform the NMEA 2000 Certifications tests on the software applications above.

When the combined "NGT-1 & software application" is proven not to have compromised the NGT-1's NMEA 2000 certification during the required tests, Actisense will be able to apply for NMEA 2000 Certification on behalf of the software developer. The NMEA will then issue a certificate stating that the software is NMEA 2000 Approved for use with an Actisense NGT-1.
